Cure Leukaemia Joins Big Give Christmas Challenge

Cure Leukaemia are delighted to announce we will be part of The Big Give’s Christmas Challenge this December, with the goal of securing £100,000 to fast-track access to life-saving clinical trials for children battling blood cancer.

In 2024, The Big Give Christmas Challenge raised a record breaking £44m for charities – the UK’s largest fundraising campaign of the year.

From Tuesday 2nd December to Tuesday 9th December 2025, every donation made to Cure Leukaemia through the Big Give Christmas Challenge will be doubled, meaning supporters can have twice the impact in the fight against childhood blood cancer.

The focus of this year’s campaign is to enable the crucial next step for the ATICUS Network – a world-first, pioneering collaboration between 11 leading UK children’s hospitals, including renowned centres like Royal Manchester Children’s and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The ATICUS Network will revolutionise clinical transplant trial access for children across the UK. Our £100,000 target from the Big Give Christmas Challenge bring us closer to open the ATICUS Network quickly as possible, meaning your donation will be part of this groundbreaking step forward in childhood blood cancer treatment.

“There are new drugs that are available and we’d like to do a national study of that within the UK. If we have the ATICUS Network up and running today, we’d be able to deliver that study.” Professor Persis Amrolia, Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Cure Leukaemia Patron Gary Lineker spoke about the announcement: “My connection to Cure Leukaemia, through my son George’s own battle with the disease as a baby, is profoundly personal. That’s why I am so passionate about their work, particularly with the new ATICUS Network to help children access pioneering clinical trials.

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is an incredible opportunity for everyone to step up and it’s fantastic that Cure Leukaemia have been selected to be part of it where donations will be doubled.”

Jo Hawkridge who’s son Jude’s life was saved by a clinical trial added: “While Jude was going through treatment, he had to spend Christmas in isolation and away from his family. We encourage everyone to support the Christmas Challenge and together we can make double the difference for children like Jude this Christmas.”

How you can make a difference this Christmas:

DONATE: Give between 12:00pm (midday) on Tuesday 2nd December and 12:00pm (midday) on Tuesday 9th December via https://donate.biggive.org/campaign/a05WS000005A8ZJYA0

DOUBLE: Every pound you donate will be matched by Cure Leukaemia’s generous pledgers and Big Give Champions.
