Thousands of Brummies pound the streets every year to rise to the challenge of the AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run by tackling the Birmingham half marathon or 10K. There’s everything you’d expect from a Great Run – notorious start line hype, top en-route entertainment and an event village that feels more like an after-party!
How to Register for the Great Birmingham Run
The easiest way to take part in the Great Birmingham Run is to register with a charity like Cure Leukaemia. We have secured a number of places in the race that we are able to offer to our supporters, like yourself, allowing you to take part in an epic running challenge while also raising money for Leukaemia!

In Birmingham, the fight against blood cancer is happening right on our doorstep. Every mile you run and every pound you raise goes directly toward funding pioneering Research Nurses and Clinical Trials across the region.
By joining our team, you are directly powering life-saving clinical trials across the city, from world-leading adult research at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital to the pioneering ATICUS Network at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Your miles fund the specialist Research Nurses essential to delivering these medical breakthroughs, providing patients of all ages in Birmingham with access to the latest treatments and a real hope for a cure.

Birmingham Half Marathon Route
Take on the Great Birmingham Run Half Marathon, a big‑city challenge in the proud home of Cure Leukaemia. Thousands of runners push past their limits every year on this standout route. With a newly updated start and finish in the city centre, you’ll power through Birmingham’s streets and experience roaring support all the way.

As part of the Cure Leukaemia team, you’ll receive an exclusive Santini running top, access to our specialist training partner & support from our expert fundraising team to help you meet your pledge.
Your start time will depend on which route you have chosen and your group colour.
Orange Wave: 8:30am
Green Wave: 8:45am
Pink Wave: 9:00am
Purple Wave: 10:00am
Red Wave: 10:15am
Blue Wave: 10:30am
These times are provisional so we recommend you check the Great Run website closer to the time.
Your results will be available immediately after the Birmingham race thanks to the FREE Great Run app. You’ll also be able to see photos from the day and use it to keep track of friends and family throughout the day.
The 2026 Birmingham half marathon and 10k both start at Centenary Square on Broad Street and finish on Jennens Road into Aston University’s event village.
