Over 200 eager fans of the Lionesses flocked to The Grosvenor Park Lane yesterday to hear first hand tales and favourite memories of the squad’s infamous triumph at this summer’s European Championships – and to help raise funds for Cure Leukaemia in the process.

Alessia Russo (scorer of THAT back heel in the tournament), Rachel Daly and former England Lionesses legend, 129-capped Rachel Yankey OBE all took to the stage in front of a captivated audience in London, with Millie Bright appearing via Zoom.

Hosted by Gala Events and Sky Sports’ Pete Graves, the trio spoke candidly about the journey that the squad has been under with Sarina Wiegman and the progress made in women’s sport along with their iconic achievements this year.

Alex Smith, Head of Sponsorship at Cure Leukaemia commented:

“It was a great afternoon yesterday courtesy of Gala Events and Alan George at the “Lunch with the Lionesses” hearing from two of this summers Euro’s winners Alessio Russo and Rachel Daly alongside 129-cap trailblazer Rachel Yankey at the Grosvenor House Hotel.”

“It has been fantastic to see (and hear) how the women’s game is progressing and inspiring so many – my daughter included – and Cure Leukaemia is providing an opportunity to play at St. George’s Park in March next year.”

Cure Leukaemia will be hosting the FIRST EVER women’s corporate six-a-side football tournament next year at St George’s Park on Friday 31st March 2023.
