Join Cure Leukaemia, in Blood Cancer Awareness Month this September for an evening of insight, leadership and what it takes to manage the England Men’s National Team with current England Manager, Gareth Southgate OBE.

Hear first-hand stories from both his playing and managerial career at this exclusive evening at the Landmark Hotel, London on Thursday 12th September with the man who has led England since 2015 – taking place just eight weeks after the 2024 UEFA European Championships in Germany.

Southgate is supporting former Crystal Palace teammate Geoff Thomas MBE, with Cure Leukaemia particularly close to the heart of Thomas, and for good reason. Thomas was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML) in 2003 and, after having his life saved by the charity’s co-founder Professor Charlie Craddock CBE, he has been a staunch fundraiser and Patron ever since.

Speaking of his relationship with Cure Leukaemia, he said, “I would not be here now without Cure Leukaemia and Professor Charlie Craddock CBE. It is as simple as this – beating blood cancer was my biggest ever challenge.”

“Gareth has always supported me over the years, whether I was jumping on my bike to tackle another Tour de France or coming to speak at one of my events. I cannot thank him enough for supporting Cure Leukaemia once again in what I am sure will be another memorable occasion for the charity.”

The two former England internationals played together for Crystal Palace, with Southgate making his debut for the Eagles under the captaincy of Thomas and would eventually succeed him as Captain in 1993.

Southgate is full of admiration for his former teammate and was only too happy to help when Thomas came calling: “As a former teammate and friend, Geoff Thomas is somebody I have great respect for, so I was more than happy to commit to this fundraising evening in London later this year.”

“I know how important Cure Leukaemia is to Geoff so hopefully our mutual love of football can help bring together an enjoyable event for all in attendance and raise plenty of money and awareness for the charity in the process.”
