Cure Leukaemia is proud to announce that a number of officials from the professional game will officiate this year’s Copa Del Cure Leukaemia 2025
Cure Leukaemia has unveiled the first five ex-professional footballers confirmed for this year’s highly anticipated Copa Del CL, returning this September during Blood Cancer Awareness Month. Back by popular demand, these footballing icons will once again swap packed stadiums for a day of unforgettable six-a-side action, all in the name of raising vital funds to help cure blood cancer.
The first names announced to take part in this year’s tournament are Courtney Sweetman-Kirk, Darren Ambrose, Marlon Harewood, Karen Bardsley, and Sue Smith – all of whom have previously thrilled crowds at Copa Del CL and are ready to roll back the years for another fiercely competitive but fun-filled event.
⚽ Meet the Stars
Courtney Sweetman-Kirk enjoyed a stellar playing career across the Women’s Super League, representing the likes of Everton, Liverpool, and Sheffield United. Known for her sharp attacking play and eye for goal, she brings not only talent but an infectious energy to the Copa stage.
Darren Ambrose rose to prominence with Ipswich Town and went on to play for clubs including Newcastle United, Charlton Athletic and Crystal Palace. Famous for his long-range goals and creative flair, Ambrose remains a fan favourite – and a serious threat in any Copa squad.
Marlon Harewood made his name as a powerful striker for West Ham United, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest, scoring goals in the Premier League and Championship. His strength, pace and poacher’s instinct make him one of the most exciting forwards in the Copa Del CL line-up.
Karen Bardsley is one of England’s most decorated goalkeepers, having earned over 80 caps for the Lionesses and featuring at multiple World Cups and European Championships. With a glittering club career at Manchester City, Bardsley brings leadership, experience, and safe hands to the tournament.
Sue Smith is a true icon of women’s football, with 93 England caps and a career that spanned clubs such as Doncaster Rovers Belles and Leeds United. Renowned for her technical skills and attacking prowess, Smith is a crowd favourite and always brings her trademark flair to the Copa pitch.
