Patient Case Study: James (Cambridge)
James was diagnosed with Mixed-phenotype acute leukaemia when he was 1 years old.
WOMAC pledged to donate £7,500 to each of the charities but thanks to the sell-out event and generosity of its guests on the night, it was able to achieve that target in the first fundraising event for the year. Further donations will be secured via other fundraising initiatives in 2024, including a friend taking part in the London Marathon, the Southern Group of Motoring Writers karting event and ‘WOMAC weeks’ later in the year.
Cure Leukaemia will directly invest the donation from WOMAC into the TAP Network, which consists of 15 Research Nurses based across the UK’s biggest cities, who work to connect patients to world-class and potentially life-saving blood cancer clinical trials.
Georgia Fox, Chair of WOMAC, said: “We are always humbled by the generosity of the guests at the annual WOMAC party, and this year was no exception. It is a privilege to be able to assist these two incredible charities – OPA and Cure Leukaemia – through our fundraising efforts.
“WOMAC continues to work tirelessly to provide much needed funds to cancer charities in the hope that our contributions might make a difference, however small, to people living with cancer or those caring for them.”
WOMAC is run by volunteers across the automotive space; its party and other fundraising events across the year would not be such a success without the support of WOMAC’s Committee, Patrons, Friends and generous companies including, Coding Ketchup, Imprimatur, PFPR Communications, Seventy, Kia, ebay, Elan PR, Matthew Douglas, Shadowcat, Torque, Carwow, HW, Sims Images, Loop, Kelsey Media, SMMT, Rhubarb Creative, NKrush and VW Group.
