The Tour of the TAP is BACK for 2023!
210 Kilometres | 10 Days | 1 Goal
Across 10 inspiring days, Cure Leukaemia Chief Executive James McLaughlin will look to complete his BIGGEST ever Tour of the TAP to raise funds for blood cancer patients across the country. With the Trials Acceleration Programme expanding to 15 centres, James will now be completing FIFTEEN 14km runs around these centres – with just a few days with double legs for good measure!
The feat will see him run over 200 kilometres across a ten day period to raise important funds for the 15 UK blood cancer centres that the charity supports – the equivalent of TEN half marathons across the ten days.
The event has raised over £75,000 from the past three years to fund the charities TAP Network and he is aiming to bring his combined fundraising total for the event to over £100,000.
He is appealing to the Cure Leukaemia family to join him at various stages throughout his tour or challenge themselves at home to help contribute towards his fundraising goal.
Cure Leukaemia works with the sole aim of eradicating blood cancer within a generation by funding the Trials Acceleration Programme (TAP) across 15 specialist centres across the biggest cities in the UK.
This involves the funding of 15 specialist research nurses in 15 of the UK’s biggest cities.
This network enables the accelerated setup, recruitment to and delivery of new blood cancer clinical trials connecting patients from a catchment area of over 20 million people with potentially life-saving treatments not currently available through standard care.
The 2023 Tour of the TAP will see James run 14km through each of these cities with a 5* finish in Birmingham.
