Intercity Technology to Boost the £1m Appeal

11th July 2017

Enterprise Mobility and IT Specialist, Intercity Technology will be supporting Cure Leukaemia as an official charity partner throughout 2017. The Birmingham-headquartered business, which has offices across the UK and Europe, will be raising funds throughout the year towards Cure Leukaemia’s £1m Appeal to fund the expansion of the Centre for Clinical Haematology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

The £3.2m expansion to double the capacity of the world class Centre, which is leading the global fight against all forms of blood cancer, began in late May and is expected to reopen to treat patients in November. Over £2m has been granted by the Local Growth Fund (LGF) and blood cancer charity Cure Leukaemia has made a commitment to raising and additional £1m in 2017 to ensure the project is fully funded.

Once established, the Centre’s capacity for research nurse positions, clinical trials and patients treated will be doubled and these are just some of the benefits that development will enable. Not only will the Centre immediately increase the number of lives saved but also hasten global progress towards establishing effective treatments for all blood cancers within 25 years.

All funds raised for Cure Leukaemia through major events such as Velo Birmingham, Glynn Purnell’s Friday Night Kitchen, the Birmingham International Marathon and Simplyhealth Great Birmingham Run to name a few will go towards the £1m appeal. Fundraising from the charity’s corporate partners, such as Intercity Technology, and community supporters will also help Cure Leukaemia reach the inspirational goal by the deadline of December 31st this year.

Andrew Jackson, CEO at Intercity Technology said:

We are looking forward to discussing fundraising ideas with Cure Leukaemia in the coming weeks.”
